Banana Boat* Joins Churchill Downs To Distribute 250,000 Sunblock Samples To Kentucky Derby, Oaks Fans

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 23, 2002) - Banana Boat®, one of America's leading brands of suncare products, has announced that it will provide Churchill Downs with 250,000 samples of its new VitaSkin* sunblock for distribution to fans in attendance at the historic track on Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Days.

The first-ever partnership between Banana Boat Suncare and Churchill Downs on the biggest weekend in American racing is part of the track's emphasis on hospitality and customer service in response to new safety precautions in place for both days. Among the items prohibited for carry-in by fans on those days are plastic and glass bottles - which includes items such sunscreen containers. Sunscreen will be available for purchase and in plentiful supply throughout the track and its heavily populated Infield on Derby and Oaks Days, but the generous donation by the nation's second largest producer of suncare products should ease patron concerns about sunscreen availability.

"Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby have long benefited from the hard work and generosity of our corporate partners and we are pleased to welcome Banana Boat to that group," said Alex Waldrop, president of Churchill Downs. "Our fans will have to deal with some changes as they come through our admission gates on Derby and Oaks Days, but we're working hard through our hospitality and customer service efforts to ensure that they have a terrific time once they're inside. Banana Boat has stepped forward to offer a large quantity of this essential product for distribution to our fans and we thank the company for its contribution to the effort to make this one of the greatest weekends in Kentucky Derby and Oaks history."

The VitaSkin* Advanced Sun Protection sample packets measure 2 ½"x 5" and each contains just under a half-ounce of SPF 30 sunscreen for the body, which provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. They will be available to fans at four Infield distribution centers and two packets will be available per visit for each patron.

VitaSkin*, introduced in 2002, is a new line of advanced sun protection for the face and the body from Banana Boat. The VitaSkin* oil-free formula protects skin from the harmful elements of the sun without the thick texture of traditional sunscreen. Enriched with plant extracts and antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, it goes on light and silky smooth to moisturize and protect the face and body every day.
